Who We Are
UCR Unmanned Aerial Systems is a highly-motivated and interdisciplinary group of students designing, constructing and programming an autonomous aerial vehicle to compete in the annual Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International Student Unmanned Aerial Systems Competition (AUVSI-SUAS) hosted in Maryland.
Despite the 2020-2021 competition's cancellation due to COVID-19, we are still creating opportunities for our own students to strive and apply their skills in practical and educational environments, such as the recent UCR Aerospace Conference 2021 and the upcoming UCR-UAS Annual Banquet 2020-2021.

Student-Innovated Solutions
Unmanned Aerial VehicleThe Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is the core of the entire unmanned aerial system and is the aerial platform for imaging and the deployment of the UGV. The UAV will also be tasked with flying a planned way point route while avoiding obstacles in its path.
|
Unmanned Ground VehicleThe Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) is responsible for autonomously driving to a given destination once dropped out of the UAV. It focuses on object, location, and orientation detection in order to safely navigate towards its final destination while maintaining communication with the GCS.
|
Ground Control StationThe Ground Control Station (GCS) manages all communication with other systems and personnel. GCS manages competition interoperability server download and upload, manual and automatic object recognition of images sent by our drone, safety precautions, and transportation.
